How do you upload video from a digital camcorder to laptop?

Is the problem my laptop or my video camera?? Please HELP!?

  • I have a samsung shoot and share digital camcorder, and I use a USB cord to upload videos onto my computer. I'm now using my laptop which is a Compaq Presario 2100. I plug in my video camera and the laptop doesn't do anything. On my family computer (which is being fixed) a window for the videos pops up. It doesn't even show up under "my computer" either. Usually on my other computer the screen of the camera will say "USB Connection" when I hook it up. What is the problem here? Thanks in advance, -Ami

  • Answer:

Remove any other device you have in your USB ports, and try it agin. if it does not work in one then try another (I assume you have more than one) if windows doesnt pick the device up then its unlikely that by installing the drivers will help. may be a visit to the website of the camera may help Good luck RR

Did your camcorder come with a disk? You might need to load drivers from that disk on to your laptop for it to recognize the device when you connect it. If it doesn't have a disk then check online for usb drivers specific to your camcorder.
