How do I turn the old camcorder tapes into VHS?

  • My parents have tons of old camcorder tapes and not the camera. They cannot watch the videos so I want to get them turned into DVD's for them. I have no idea how to go about this so any response would help!!

    You can do this with StashSpace a tape to dvd video conversion service. They specialize in home movie conversions and did a great job with all of my VHS and VHS-C tapes. What you do is mail them the tapes and they will convert them to digital for you. It costs $7 per tape for the video transfer but they are running a promotion right now where the conversion is free if you get a premium account ($100 for a year of video storage). You can get DVDs back right away or you can use their online application to view your stuff, share online, and edit to create custom DVDs. Works great for combining footage from multiple tapes and creating themed movies like "Birthday Parties". DVDs are $15 and burned by them.

I think the easiest way would be to hire a service to do the transition. I have heard of services that you mail your old tapes to, and they return them along with the new dvd's. Possibly a local place would do this for you. Start with a good photo shop in your area and start asking questions. Hope that helps!
