How do i edit Flip video sent to me through email?
-
I have to make a little movie. I have some of my own footage in iMovie 11. Now a friend of mine has the rest of the footage but they don't live near me. They sent me their flip videos through email. The problem is that i can't use the videos in the email. I can only watch it on its own little web page. I need to download the flip video from the email so i can add it to iMovie. How do i do this???

Answer:
try dragging the video down to your desktop, then to your iMovie's timeline. if that doesn't work, try your best to meet up with your friend and borrow his camera to import the rest of the footage. another option is to open up quicktime player, hit "file" then "new screen recording." make sure you have the video file he/she emailed to you in fullscreen. quicktime player will record the screen. when the video is over, go to the top right corner and find the little square by what says "stop recording." your video will be saved, all you have to do is, in finder, search for "screen recording" and it will be there. drag into your iMovie timeline, cut and crop whatever you need. Hope this helps!

I'm assuming what they're sending you is really a link to Flip's video sharing service. If you're in Safari, press Command-Option-A to open the Activity Window. This shows the address of everything in the webpages you have open. If you have several tabs/windows open, click on the little arrows in the Activity window so the only one open is the video's page. Run the video and look in the activity window for the largest item, likely measured in MB (and probably still in the process of loading when you look.) Double click the item. If all goes well, Safari will begin downloading the video file. If instead Safari opens a new tab and loads the video there, there's more work to be done. Click on the item in the Activity window and copy its address (command-c) Open Text Editor, press command-shift-t to go into plaintext mode and enter: <a href="">video</a> Paste the address between the quotes and save the file as aaa.html Open this new file (aaa.html) in Safari; double click or drag it into a Safari tab. You'll get a simple web page with a single link. Option-click the link to download the video file.
