How to fix the ultra flip camcorder?

My camcorder is malfuctioning and not charging, why? and how do I fix this?

• I have a Sony Handycam. 2 months ago I picked it up and the bottom was wet- it appears someone put it on a wet spot. It wouldn't turn on, then it would turn on but not from the battery, only when it was plugged in. When I would plug it in and turn it off it would turn itself on and off over and over again and not charge. I took it in to be repaired (no longer under warranty) and $400 later is now works from the battery but still won't charge (the light turns on for 5 seconds and then turns off) and the camera still turns on and off when I turn it off. The repair place claims it is due to the hot weather, I think this is rediculous, especially because it's 80 degrees in my house and the camcorder has been sitting on the table for 3 hours. Is this fixable? Should I take it back to the repair place (they have a 30 day warranty)? Could it be the battery? Could it be the charger? Should I not have it be repaired and just buy a seperate battery charger to charge the batteries (instead of charging through the camera) and just remove the battery from the camcorder when not in use (when the battery is taken out it does not turn on and off)?

  Batteries don't last long, depending upon use and storage, and they do die. Sounds like a dead battery to me. I know I've had to replace several in my life time. However this might seem troublesome, but it really is good news as when you replace the battery the camcorder works fine. I'd say it is 98% sure to be a dead battery. Good luck.
