What recorder should I use to record gameplay?

• I want to record videogames straight off my television. I have always been a huge fanatic of videogames and I would like to begin a career by sending some videos to machinima. So for the people out there who record their gameplays and post them on youtube, what do you use. I want all of my gameplays in HD and I have a 40 inch 1080p television. Please tell me it would really help out alot. Also, but how much it costs and where to buy. It would prefer buying stuff from amazon or Best Buy. Thank you!!!!

  you can use a dvd player. it is very easy. you connect the xbox, wii, or playstation game to the composite rca jacks on the dvd player. it would probably be cheaper to use an old vcr around the house. when connected turn it on and press record. it will record the xbox game play. finalize the dvd in the dvd player and then place it in your computer dvd drive reader. then you can transfer it to your computer. with a dazzle the recording quality will look like the dvd recorder or vcr recorder/player. connect the dazzle to your computer via the usb port. load the dazzle software and follow the instructions. you might need to purchase extra cables that the dazzle may not have. the information will go directly into your computer, so there will be no need to use a dvd drive reader. there are other capture cards to use besides the dazzle too, so check them out. you can also use a video camera. place it in the front of the tv and record your screen. after recording transfer the movie to your computer with the memory card or connect the camera to your computer by the usb port. the camera video quality can vary and might look worse the dvd/vcr recording depending on your camera and other aspects in the room when you record. other methods include a thing called hd pvr. a hd pvr can record directly to computer too. actually most require a computer or laptop to work. there is one that can be used without a laptop/computer called newelectronx tristar mx hd pvr. you can connect your xbox to it through the composite rca jacks and then press record on it. it works just like a vcr or dvd record - in that it is simple to operate and use. once the recording is on the hd pvr then you connect it to your computer. you dont have to transfer the information to the computer if you dont want to. you can edit it directly on the hd pvr with any software.
