Should I get a Flip Ultra F260 Camcorder?

  • I have a 9 month old baby boy and I would like a very portable camcorder that I can take with us places and to generally use around the house. I've been looking into the Flip Ultra F260. It is affordable ($109 at Walmart) and has 60 minutes of filming which should be plenty as I can always download our movies on to the computer when we get home. I am aware that there is no space for external memory cards. I am impressed with the description of the software that it comes with. Supposedly the software allows you to edit your videos and even add music. It also lets you take still pictures from video clips and makes it very easy to email the clips to friends and family. All of the reviews sound really positive, but I want to make sure it is a good match for me before I buy it. Here are my questions: 1.) Is the software really as great and as easy to use as it sounds? 2.) How easy is it to burn your videos from the camera to a DVD that can be played on a regular DVD player? 3.) How is the battery life of the regular AA batteries and should I invest in the rechargeable battery pack for it? 4.) If you have the Ultra, how has it worked out for you or if you have another camera, would you recommend it instead. Thanks for any and all answers!

    the flip video has a built-in software called Flipshare which you can take sanpshots, add music. However, if you want to burn DVD, it's not free, they will charge you. for me, i have a flip video ultra, and i bought a dvd creator to burn my captured videos to dvd. it's very cheap, and life-time upgrade. http://www.mp4kits.com/DVD/DVDCreator/flip-video-to-dvd/

I have the Ultra HD and it is awesome. When you plug in the first time, it loads it all the software automatically and you do nothing. Everytime after that it loads your videos to the program. It is idiot proof. You can make your own DVD's or they even have a service where they will make it. The HD is about $50 more and it is worth it. Don't get the Minio since it's only 60 minutes. If you only have money for the regular one, it is still a breeze to use. You won't be sorry.
