How to transfer a video from a camera to a PC?

How come when I transfer videos from my video camera to a pc the quality turns to rubbish ?

I can plug my camera into my tv and the quality's really good. But when I transfer my videos to my pc the quality goes down the drain. I cant use the software supplied with the camera as its not compatible with windows 7, so what I do is just drag and drop the videos onto my computer. How can I fix this quality problem? Thanks in advance.

With out knowing the make model of the camera its impossible to help, anything else will be a guess. what do you mean turn to rubbish, is the video jerky, audio and video not playing together, pixelated video. it could mean a under powered computer, or something is getting messed up in the copy process You need to re ask the question with more details. I suspect your computer is underpowered. Maybe a 1GB video card would help, More RAM could help also
