Playback digital piano on computer?

I want to start recording songs through my computer so I brought a MIDI/USB cable today, which look like this >>> http://www.cdlmicro.co.uk/html/show_product.php/pid/537 I connect the cable between my digital piano (Gem RP-800) MIDI in/out etc, nothing work? I don't know what to do after that. Do I need to buy a 'MIDI interface'? What software can I use? How should I set up my computer? I have a music software called Cubase SX 3 and I just want to record songs on computer. I could use my digital piano audio output and input it to my computer so it run through my computer sound card. You know what I mean? Will that work? Still a beginner about this topic. So frustrating! Just want to record and edit! :'(
