Should i get a pro camcorder or not?

Which professional video camcorder should I get?

  • So this summer me and my friends are going to make a lot (like once a week or every 2 weeks) of movies. I have 2 camcorders chosen. They are the Panasonic AG-HMC70U and the Canon XH-A1s 3CCD. The Panasonic is about half the price of the Canon, which means I'd have more money to buy accessories. But I know that being cheap comes back to bite you in the a*s. So if I got the Panasonic (about $1500) I could get a Macbook Pro and build my own computer (which I've been planning to do for a long time). The total of those 3 would be about $7500. Or, I could get the Canon (about $3200) and I could only build my computer or get the Macbook Pro. So which should I choose? a.) Panasonic AG-HMC70U, Macbook Pro, and build my own gaming computer or b.) Canon XH-A1s 3CCD and Macbook Pro or build gaming computer Which camcorder is the better one and which choice is the better deal? Thanks!

  • Answer:

There are too many reports and reviews of poor audio with the HCM70 http://reviews.cnet.com/digital-camcorders/panasonic-ag-hmc70/4864-6500_7-32857506-1.html?tag=mncol;uo This is not the only one reporting the poor audio issue. If we only get to choose between the two, then the XHA1 is the winner. The Sony HVR-Z1 or HDR-FX1000 are definitely worth a look...

If you're wanting a professional camera, anything with 3CCD will do. I recommend a Mini DV camera. The tapes are great quality and fairly easy to find.
