How do I import my videos from my Sony Handycam to a Macbook?

  • How do I import the videos from my Sony Handycam dcr-dvd110, to a Macbook, so I can use the footage to edit on I-movie? I didn't have problems importing the footage to my Windows XP computer, but now I have got a Macbook and have no idea how to get the videos on the Mac... When I plug the camera in through the USB to my Mac, I can play the videos, but not make screen shots or even import the footage so its saved on the Mac. Help would be much appreciated!

Ok well your going to want to go to I-Movie Look at the botum left corner many about two inches up you should see something that looks like a video camera click it, It should open up all the clips on the camera from there it should be simple. just select the clips you want and click import (might be done) Editing in imovie is a completely different story. Its easy to learn though. remember youtube is your friend!

Hi Ellen, As you record on a mini DVD you should try to copy it to your mac. Just put the DVD in the tray (use the small circular opening) and browse it's content. Copy the VIDEO TS folder to your mac. In that folder you'll find .vob files. There is a well known issue with i-movie not opening vob files. Since I'm not a mac user I don't know the status of that issue. If you can't open the files in i-movie try to rename them to .mpeg or .mpg , on a regular pc that works just fine.
