HDV Camcorder Suggestions?

im planning on buying a new HDV camcorder my budget is upto $1,000 (US Dollars) i need suggestions as to wat to buy i have considered Canon HV-30 but wanted to know if there are other Hi-Def alternatives (i try to stay away from Hard Disk cams as they will be problematic when archiving) i need suggestions for good High Definition Camcorders plz help

I have only see great reports for the camera (HV-30) the only other I can think of is SONY HDR HC7, as they see to have about the same sort of reports. Tape is still the best media, to record onto. still have not found another media that is better! I always feel uneasy when video is compress to such a degree as with HDD and Media cards. Go to a god camera store and get your hands on them, check them out and go for the one that feels best for you. Have fun RR
