  • Answer:

Your video and your audio are out of sync (pronounced "sink"). Movie Maker - and most other easy-to-use editors - isn't going to be able to put them in sync. You didn't say what you're using to watch the video. Windows Media Player? Media Center? The Preview Window of Movie Maker? What's the file type of the video? What version of Movie Maker do you have? If you don't know the version, what's your operating system - XP, Vista, Windows 7? Most cameras produce MOV files and some produce HD (1080p) or HD Lite (AVCHD - 720p) but some still produce AVIs. Normally, when you're having trouble with a video it means there's some incompatibility at work. It's probably something simple like the video is encoded using one codec and the computer has another version or an older version of that codec. I finally installed the free, open source VLC Media Player after having some problems with Windows Media Player on Sunday. I also began making HD videos which produce mts files which WMP can't play. To find out what file type your camera produces, find the video file, right click on it and scroll down and click on Properties. The File Type will either be on the General tab or the Details tab. You can convert the video but it's hard to recommend a program without knowing what kind of video files your camera produces. Converters are really easy to use so don't worry about having to use one. I've used Any Video Converter (free) for a few years and recently added Freemake Video Converter (also free) to convert my mts files to high quality mkv files. (And I don't really like having to mess with all these technical things but I'm really stubborn about making short-but-high-quality videos so I learn while I google, read reviews and comments and then try out the software;-)
