Hi George: Since you didn't list the exact Sony DVD Handycam model number you own, I can make a generalized statement that "most" of the DVD Handycams don't support USB-video uploading (only low-quality "streaming", if at all) via Sony's Picture Motion Browser (PMB). [Feel free to post an "Additional Details update with model # and other feedback.] And just to be "picky" (before a smart-alec Answer comes along) you don't "upload video tape" from a DVD camcorder — it's a disc not tape. Just make sure you "finalize" the DVD before taking it out of your Handycam, then use your PC's DVD drive to import the video onto your hard drive. Windows Movie Maker is an "entry level" (basic & free) video editing tool, so it doesn't handle a wide variety of video file formats, and I'm not sure your VOB and TS files from your DVD will import directly. WMM likes "Windows Media" playable files. Sony PMB, when you get it working (download the FULL version of FlashPlayer from Adobe.com, not just the Chrome web browser "plug-in"), will let you do basic editing chores with your DVD files from the Handycam. And ignore any spammers below who might post "video converter" links to "solve" your problem. They won't! (They just want your money, even though they claim "free".) hope this helps, --Dennis C.

Other answers

Just a small addition to Dennis C's answer - once you've finalised the DVD you can't write anything more to it! Unfortunately, you can't read it on your PC until it's been finalised :-(
