What's a good hard-drive Camcorder?

Can Camcorder videos be transfered to a DVD Recorder's harddrive?

  • I want to be able to create DVD's from my camcorder but my PC does not have a DVD burner. I would like to replace my VCR with a DVD recorder with a Harddrive and wondered if I could create DVD's with the recorder after I transfer my camcorder video(s) to the Recorder Harddrive. My camcorder does not have a Firewire connection only the three wire; 1 video and 2 audio connection and a USB connection. I would appreciate any help offered. Tks, JBL

I've never heard of a DVD recorder with a harddrive. But I use a DVD Recorder for editing. It burns in a blank DVD recordable disc. Then i do whatever i want in the computer (-i assume your PC got a player-not recorder).You can use also rewritable discs.

There are some Digital Video Recorders (DVR) on the market that have DVD burners. There are some video cameras that are on the market that transfer their video directly to component DVD burners and/or DVRs. I'd guess there are some that do both. I'm also guessing that they'd be proprietary, but might not be. Best to check with a couple different Audio/Video stores in your area and hope to find someone knowledgeable. I'm thinking that Sony, JVC or Panasonic might have some hardware that would pair up for this. **note: I'm talking stand alone components, not computers
