Where can I get PC generic software for a camcorder?

Good camcorder for uploading footage to PC?

• Can someone tell me what a good camcorder is for around $450? I was looking at a used cannon HV20 but I read it does not come with a software disc,windows movie maker wont support it,and if you want to get the footage even on your PC it has to be plugged in to your PC while filming? Can anyone help me out to find a decent camcorder? And does every camcorder need to be plugged into your PC while filming to get footage on your PC?

  If you want quality then that is a very good camcorder, tape based camcorders will beat most Hard drive and sd card cameras. remember that WMM will not directly support any of the other formats either. No you don't need to have the camera connected to your computer who ever told you that knows as much about cameras as my dog!! again its a tape based camera you record to the tape. the reason for there not being any software is that t does not nee it. the only thing you need is a firewire card and cable, once connected to your computer you simply capture the video. its real time IE 5 minutes of video takes 5minutes onto get onto your computer, but if you use one of the other formats you will still need to convert it, and that can take a long time. The only camera that does not need to be plugged in to your camera is a flash drive camcorder providing you have a card reader. if you don't then you have to plug the camera into your computer. As for windows MM it is not designed to edit high quality video, its a very simple editing package. and its results are just OK. you need to find another editing package, some are free others are not.
