Can you Connect a JVC GR-D350U Camera to PC?

  • so i got a JVC GR-D350U Digital Video Camera, and it uses small Tape's to Record the video on to.. but im wondering After recording your video, can you Connect it to your PC with the correct wires and transport your Files onto the PC?

    You need to capture the video from your camera to PC. You need 1 Firewire, port in your computer, if you do not have one then it takes 10 min's to put one in. they cost about $10-20 ish they do not need any drivers and just plug into a spare PCI slot. with that installed you need a cable again firewire, which connects your camera to the computer. once all the parts are in place you turn your camera to the VCR ( play) postition and windows will pick it up installing all its own drivers. If you use Windows MM then you can capture from that, or any video editing software package, normally the video will be captured as an AVI file beware they are big files 5 min's of video is about 1gb, so make sure you have plenty of room. Using firewire, you can controll the camera from your PC fast forward stop, play etc. Good luck RR

If you have a mini dv (cassette) camcorder…. Your dv camcorder needs a firewire connection (ieee 1394) in order to download video, your PC probably did not come with a firewire port, so you will have to buy one and install it, since most computers (except possibly brand new) don't come with a firewire port, your camcorder did not come with a firewire cord so you have to purchase a cord too. Your camcorder did come with a USB cord and that is used for downloading stills from your camcorder. Make sure your camera is in playback mode. The fine print in your manual makes reference to firewire (ieee 1394) connection.

you will use a firewire card and firewire cable would be much more appropriate (and the video quality will be a LOT better).
