How good is the audio quality on Flip camcorders?

  • ok so i need some opinions on some good quality camcorders i am going to a concert and would like to be able to get some recordings of that have good sound and video quality. I know no camera is perfect..... basically im just looking for good picture,sound,and rechargeable battery(preferably a Li-Ion but I will use AA). I don't need a "share" button or anything fancy just a good point and click camera. Of course i will be using the camera for other occasions than concerts so i do need something that will last a while. Also, I'm a huge Klutz and drop everything...... so i probably need something pretty durable. I will tell you I absolutely do not want a flip camera because have heard from a lot of people that the battery is constantly dies and the camera freezes then shuts off. Plus the company that makes them is shutting down and i don't want to risk ending up with a defecting flip and having no one to replace/repair it. Anyways, i have been looking at different Kodak cameras like the "Playfull" and Playsport ZX3. i don't want the ZX5 because the battery is not removable. However if you could tell me how long the ZX5's battery life is maybe i'll consider it.... So basically I just need some reviews on a few cameras then I can do whatever research I need to from there. Flip camcorders are Junk, good choice on avoiding them. http://youtu.be/MfYNyiBSbRk I use the Canon ZR 930 http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/camcorders/minidv_camcorders/zr930 for my day to day needs. If I took it to a concert, I would want a seat by the people who control the Mixer for the band(s). That way I could befriend them and maybe they would let me patch into the mixer and run a cable to the Mic jack on my camcorder for outstanding sound Quality. Short of that, any camcorder in a concert venue is going to get bad audio because a camcorder mic is good to about 5 feet from the camcorder. The further away from that you, especially in a noisy environment, the audio at about 20 feet, the camcorder cannot hear as it picks up all the other noise in front of the subject. The Canon ZR930 can be had for about $300. The ZR960 can be had for $250. It would take you in excess of $3500 to get a HD camcorder that shoot better video Quality than a $300 MiniDV tape camcorder can.
