How do you watch on your TV home movies of events you recorded on your camcorder? Thanks.

Answer:
It depends on the camcorder you have, you should have a wire that you can attach from your camcorder to the T.V.

if your cam has RCA line outs and your TV has RCA line ins then the red one the white one and the yellow one get plugged into the jacks with the same "internal color" if there's not these jacks on the tv then you'll have to put a VCR or an adapter box between the tv and the cam some cams use a 1/8 inch headphone like jack and the RCA plugs are only on the other end of the cord. cheers

There are so many ways... Some people simply hook the camcorder up to the TV, like a VCR. You would probably need a special cable that came with the camcorder, though some larger camcorders have RCA jacks. You would run right/left audio cables, then either CVBS (usually the yellow RCA plug) or S-Video (the 4-pin mini-DIN) into corresponding connectors on your TV. If your TV only has RF inputs (one 75 ohm screw jack), you need to get a modulator to do this... these are available at Radio Shack for about $30. Some people don't use the camcorder directly. I always import my video to my PC. From there, I usually edit the video and create a DVD, which naturally plays on my DVD player. However, I have kind of an advanced (well, as of three years ago) DVD player, which can also play video from the PC over Ethernet... so that's another way. People with DVD camcorders, of course, just pop the DVD into their player... easy, but it also tends to lower the quality of the video presentation -- when you have to make a DVD, you probably spend time editing out the bad stuff. Other MPEG-2 camcorders (HDV, HDD, flash) may be able to plug directly into some digital televisions. My Samsung HDTV has a firewire port, which allows my HDV camcorders to play on-screen at full quality, directly from the camcoder and controlled as well by the TV itself. This doesn't work, however, with DV or AVCHD. Some DVD writers offer Firewire ports that will let you burn a DVD directly from your DV camcorder's Firewire port... that's a quick way to make a DVD for viewing, but again, it leaves out that editing stage. HDTV owners who don't have Firewire TVs probably do have HDMI these days... many of the newer HD camcorders can hook up over HDMI, which, unlike Firewire, works with any format, not just MPEG-2. I think that's about it. The basic idea is that, it depends. I prefer and recommend making DVDs. One reason is that you'll have a chance to edit, another is that DVDs are just nicer to deal with than tapes, which of course explains why VHS is a dying format. Also, your camcorder is a pretty expensive tape deck... if you watch on DVD, or even from your PC, you'll save wear on the camcorder.
