How can I remove white noise/static from a video on my digital camera?

Is there anyway to remove the audio from a regular video file?

  • I am shooting a music video from a song I just recorded yesterday, I would like to put the audio on this song on Windows movie maker and add a video for the track, with a regular house hold camera, in this case i'm using a FlipHD, but the thing is I can not mute while recording a video, or mute at all on this camera, so I have to find some way to remove the audio from the video after I make it, can anyone please help me??

  • Answer:

If you have Movie Maker for XP or Vista, you can mute the original audio track by going to Timeline View, clicking the + sign that's next to "video" on the left side of the Timeline, right clicking in the audio track and clicking on "Mute" in the list that appears. Then just import your song into Movie Maker. (Depending on the file format it's recorded in and if that format can be used in Movie Maker, you might also have to convert the song to WAV before importing it.) Drag it onto the Music/Audio track below the now-mute audio track. If you're using a Flip to record, you're going to have to download the video to your computer and convert it to a high quality WMV before importing it into Movie Maker. Converting audio and video is not hard - which file type to select is a little confusing at first but nothing earth-shattering.
