How do you burn a DVD?

How can i Burn a Video DVD, which can be run on a DVD player! I have some avi files to Burn!?

• i have some avi files in my PC and i want to Burn these on to a DVD which can be run on a DVD player??? i used nero for it but the burned disk from it cant be run on a DVD player says Unknown disk!!! plz suggest me the way to burn the DVD so that it can be run on my DVD player.... is there any other software for Burning video DVD! i m using nero!!! plz rply soon!!!!

  Your problem is that AVI is not a standard format, far as DVD players are concerned. An AVI can hold just about any audio and video standard... that's fine for PCs, but it would never work on a dedicated player. The format understood by every DVD player, DVD-Video, is a very specific format. The only way to create this from your originals is to use a DVD authoring program. If you have Nero 8, you have one of these ... it's called Nero Vision. Fire this up, select "Make a DVD", and this program will guide you through a fairly basic DVD making process, which should yield a DVD that plays on any old dedicated player. There are plenty of other programs for this, too... do a web search of "DVD authoring" for more details.
