Best camcorder for under $1000?

Got advice on best dvd camcorder $1000 or less?

  • I've read so many camcorder reviews my head's spinning like the little girl's in The Exorcist. I need advice. Please help. I'm looking for the best picture quality I can get in a dvd camcorder at a fairly reasonable price. I just want a sharp image, with good color and a few nice special effects, like one I read about called "old time movie" - sounds like fun. Your advice, pro or con on certain models, is very welcome. Thanks in advance.

    I strongly recommend you try the Sony DCR-DVD405 camcorder, I have had for a month now and l love it. It is very easy to use and the video and sound quality is excellent. I researched dvd camcorders for a year before I chose this one and have never seen a bad review for this model. You can pay more for the DCR-DVD505, next model up, but all you are paying for is a bigger lcd screen and better still quality pictures. For your money go for the 405, I paid $750 at BestBuy. This model has the old movie setting! Also, remember use DVD-R discs unless you have a DVD player that is DVD-RW disc compatible. Trust me the 405 is top notch and worth the price! Try Sony, Panasonic, or even Itachi DVD camcorders. I havent used them yet. Im still stuck with digital 8 cameras! lol!

If DVD you want, its a Sony you got to get - either the 305 or the 405 which is way below your budget and at the same time a real deal for your money. For me, i wont go for DVD due to its limited recording time. and mind you those discs are really expensive. have fun!
