Ok there are a few ways to do this. The quick and easy, but expensive way take your VHS tapes into Jessops who will transfer the footage to a DVD. but they charge £25 per hour http://www.jessops.com/dnp/FilmDVD Most mail order ones are cheaper (£20 for 2hrs) http://www.videoencoding.biz/html/video_to_dvd.htm http://www.dynamicdvd.co.uk/video8_tape_to_dvd_conversion_transfer.aspx You can also use a DVD / VHS recorder, which also acts as a standalone DVD/VHS player. again expensive, they will also have some models in Currys Comet to look at http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=224007 You can Do It Yourself, witha Computer. most PC don't come the connections (Firewire RCA) for which you will need. There is a much easier way. Pinnacle Dazzle http://www.pcmediasupplies.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1109&zenid=4af9d4b3f7ea6a4e2c028662d3aeca0d It plugs into a Spare USB 2 port, and the other side plugs into the VHS or Camcorder, just put the tape in press Play and use either the software supplied with Pinnacle or Windows movie maker to import video. Once you have the Video on your Hard-Drive use NERO to burn as DVD-Video (or any dvd burning program thats supports DVD video) http://www.nero.com/eng/downloads-nero9-trial.php Trail version (15 day free) You can fit a Maximum of 2 Hrs of VHS video per DVD or 4 Hrs if you use DVD+R dual layers You can fit more but you lose a little quality Its easier to burn Single Layer DVD than Dual Layer ones Hope thats Helpfull .

You can do this with StashSpace.Com Just send them your tapes and they will digitize them for you. You can get back DVDs right away or watch, share, edit, and create custom DVDs. It costs $7 per hour tape for the transfer to digital and then $15 for DVDs. However, I think they are running a promo right now where the transfer to digital is free with a premium account. Check them out at http://www.stashspace.com or give them a call.

They do make a dual machine that can copy your VHS to DVD as long as it isn't copyrighted. You can find them at Bestbuy, Fryes, that type of store, I can't remember an exact name, if it's home movies you want to edit then you need something like the dazzle, you would hook your vhs camcorder or vcr to the dazzle and then the dazzle to the PC, the dazzle turns the analog (vhs) to the digital (PC).

i'm sure there is a way to do it at home, but i'm not sure about that. google it or ask someone at an electtronics store. i do, however, know that you can have different stores convert it for you. since you probably don't live where i do, google "VHS to DVD conversions" with your town name. good luck!
