    Do a LOT of research. Spend $6 and go to consumer reports online and buy a month's subscription. Find out if you will be able to write a hi-def dvd? And what kind of tv you would have to have to appreciate it. From what I've read, if you buy a regular camcorder, the resolution is highest on a mini-dv type. The DVD and hard drive ones are easier to use but have poorer quality images. In my opinion it's better to buy HD camcorder with memory card. There are many HD-cams with HDD, MiniDV, DVD and MC from Canon, JVC, Sony, Sanyo, Panasonic and Aiptek in the market now.
