How do you take the audio out of a recorded video?

How do you take videos from a camcorder (digital with SD slot, but the video is recorded onto the tape)?

  • I have a Canon ELURA90 digital camcorder. I need to find out how to put the videos on my computer. I have a USB cord, but I don't know how to get the files off. Alternately I could transfer from the tape to the SD card, if it were possible, and put the SD in the computer.

    Depending on the features available in that model, here are a few things that you can do to achieve your objective: 1 -- If you have firewire port in your camcorder, get a firewire card installed in your PC and then using the s/w provided with the camcorder, transfer the video onto the pc. 2 -- If your camcorder supports USB streaming, then you can you the USB port on your PC to get the video transfered onto your PC. 3 -- If your PC has a TV tuner card, give the digital o/p of your camcorder to this tuner card and then get the video transfered onto your PC. Once you have the vidoe on the PC, use any DVD/VCD burning software to burn it onto the disc. Copying from Tape to SD card may not be possible.

you can do that! when your at the video go to options and such and it might say COPY and then it might say copy to.. and put SD card and boom! depends what camera you have though. good luck!

Transferring to SD or using USB wont work. You need to connect via firewire. If your PC hasn't already got one, you'll need to install a firewire card and connect it to the camcorder with a firewire cable. You can use Windows Movie Maker to capture and edit your footage - it's bit basic, but it'll get you started.

I have a canon also. You need the firewire cable and the firewire card. Not all computers come with them but they are easy to install. You can't use the USB cord that came with it to download the video. The USB is only for downloading the still pictures you can take with your video camera. You need software, I use Pinacle Studio 9. I'm sure there are newer better programs out there, but this one works for me.
