How do I get a video off my Video Camera, on to my computer?

How do I get scenes from my videos and DVD's into my video camera so that I can import them to my computer?

  • I have a Sony DCR-TRV 11 video camera and I want to transport some scenes from videos and DVD's into my camera so that I can upload them into my computer/iMovie. I recently bought an AV cable and connected it to the "out" jacks on my DVD/VCR combo unit....still, I can't get anything to go into my video camera. Am I using the wrong cable? Is there an easy way to do this? Any help appreciated!

    it should have came with the correct cable, U still have to have a TV card or AV input on ur pc to be able to do this. All TV cards will work too, $75 or so at Bestbuy

You can't record like that to a Camcorder perty much all them do not support line in to your camcorder. Your better off getting capture card of some type. You have a video and audio OUT connection on your DVD and TV. On the camcorder you have a video and audio IN connection. Connect these up with your leads. Then play your DVD or VIDEO, press record on the camcorder. That should do it, but I suggest you also look at the owners manuals for both items. The connections are usually red, yellow and black. Your leads should go in the corresponding colours.
