Why won't my camcorder battery charge?

Best Way To de-charge a camcorder battery?

  • i have a JVC camcorder and it regularly needs de-charging and then recharging as any other does. it has 4 terminals so i am not too sure on what to do. any ideas at all would be helpful. Thank You

  • Answer:

If it's a lithium-ion (Li-ion) or nickel-metal-hydride (Ni-Mh) battery, there is no need to completely discharge before recharging. In fact, it does more harm than good. However, the older (8 years old +) camcorders used Nickel-Cadmium (Ni-Cd) batteries, which did benefit from a full discharge/charge cycle every so often. I doubt your camcorder is that old, so there is no need whatsoever to fully discharge the battery.
