How can I get better quality for my camcorder?

How do you get good quality DV camcorder signal into windows movie maker?

  • When I've tried it the resulting DVD I've burned is all pixelated and poor quality compared to playing back from AV out of my camcorder into the TV. Any help would be appreciated.

    Dont know why NYC got a thumbs down, he is right. If you are using anything else than Firewire IEEE 1394, then you are going to get poor results, its just a fact. USB devices such as firewire to usb converters are a total wash out. tried them. You do not give any details about the way you capture the video, (Connections used) or the format you are capturing it as, only use the highest quality DV-AVI the files are big but the quality will be improved. If you do not have a firewire card, then get one, both cable and card will be around £25. A FireWire cable is the only way to get a DV camcorder signal into Windows Movie Maker, and there's only one quality for DV over FireWire. That is, the exact same as the original quality on the tape. The video is completely 100% unchanged when you capture that DV via FireWire with Windows Movie Maker or any other program. Therefore, that's not where you're losing the quality. How are you burning your DVD? Perhaps you need some different DVD settings. What's your DVD creation process? EDIT: Rugratzzzzzzzz, I'm not sure, and I don't know why you did either. Gotta love the trolls out here.
