How to upload JVC video through firewire?

How can I upload video that use's a firewire but my computer does not have a firewire port?

• I bought a sony ip55 night vision camcorder and it uses micro mv tapes,and a firewire output,but my computer only has usb.I got a usb cable with the right port but it don't work.Is there another way I can use my computer to upload it.I use movie shaker software too

  Only firewire. Since you did not tell us which computer, we have no way to know if it has an expansion slot - you*might* be able to add a firewire port. USB won't work. USB-to-firewire cable/converter/adapter/hub things won't work, either. Bummer you had to learn the hard way. One alternative is to get a low-end USB analog/digital converter. Roxio makes one... lots of other companies, too. Plug the camera's AV cable into the camera and the A/D converter, then plug the A/D converter into the computer.
