How can I connect my camcorder to my PC? HELP?

How to connect camcorder to computer(PC)?

So,I just bought camcorder from american shop,here is the link:http://www.amazon.com/Sony-HDR-HC5-Definition-Camcorder-Optical/dp/B000M3EP4W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1316103177&sr=8-1 But I have problem,i can't connect it to my PC. When I opened box there was USB,Av cable and one strange cable that I never seen.I couldn't google it,dunno no name,nothing. I cant even connect it to my PC or Laptop. So my Purpose is to transfer video from camcorder-caset to PC. Please help.Thanks :)

You've bought a MiniDV camcorder - this is a good thing! You need to capture the video via firewire, and I'm guessing the "strange cable" is a firewire cable - the small end should fit into the camcorder. The other end should fit the firewire port on your computer, but it looks like you haven't got one yet. Firewire cards can be bought at any computer shop (or online) and they're cheap and easy to fit.
