How to make another copy of a video tape?

How to copy 8mm tape to video tape?

  • I have an old Sony camcorder using 8mm tape. I want to convert it to a vhs tape. I've tried all the combinations of cables and settings I can think of. What is maddening is that I've done it before, years ago with the same camera, tv and video player.. Can't find my notes. I have the yellow and white jacks in the camera. No red jack. I input the yellow, white, red into the tv jacks. The video plays just fine on the TV. I hit record on the player, assuming it would just copy what is on the screen, but it does not do it. I need ideas to figure out the right settings. This should be an easy thing. What am I missing? VCR settings? I even tried plugging the cables into the player and that did not work. The player records tv shows just fine. Thx all.

  • Answer:

I'm assuming you have the VCR between the camera and the TV, right? From your description, it sounds like you have the cam connected to the TV connected to the recorder. The VCR has to be between the two other devices.

WHy not just go to DVD. If you connect it to your computer then it will convert automatically with windows movie maker, to DVD or WMV video ...
