How do I save a video from a CD to a computer?

I can't save a video from my computer onto a DVD?

  • I have a sony dvd camcorder. I have transferred a video onto my computer using windows movie maker, I can save the video onto a CD to play back on my computer, but I wanted to save it to a DVD so i can give it as a pressie, I have tried saving it to DVD-R and DVD-RW disks, but after taking hours to save a error message appears. What I am doing wrong?

you have to 'author' to a DVD using a DVD authoring program if you want to play the dvd on a DVD player. You can save the files to dvd like a cd but then you can only play them on a computer that has a DVD drive.

You need a DVD burning program. Export or render the movie from WMM to the WMV format. Then use your dvd burning software to burn the DVD. The DVD burning software will automatically convert the WMV movie to MPEG-2 when you start the burn process.
