How much is this camera worth?

How much is my video camera worth and how much could I get for it at a place like a pawn shop?

  • I'm trying to sell my Panasonic video camera. The model number is PV-GS19. I've been trying to sell it on craigslist without much luck, and my next step is to bring it to the local pawn shop in Keene, NH. I have never sold anything to a pawn shop, and my concern is that I will be offered remarkably less than the camera is worth. I'm hoping for at least $100 if not more from the pawn shop, is this out of the question? Any responses would be extremely helpful as this is not something I have done before. The camera comes with a battery, battery charger, carrying case, and an SD card as the camera also takes digital pictures. If you read this question and are more interested in buying the camera than answering my question, feel free to say so. Thanks in advance for your help!

    In a pawn shop you are going to be lucky to get $50 probably less. the cheapest one I can see is less than $50 on ebay, but bids are at 35. Consumer electronic goods drop their value quicker than a falling brick, dont expect to much, remember that something is only worth what someone is willing to pay, not what you think its worth. Not good news but thats the way it goes. RR

the base price for an old camera like this is not as a camcorder but rather as a playback device for someone that has old tapes but lost or broke the original camcorder. in this respect, both VHS and miniDV suffer in the market because VHS can be played in a regular VCR and miniDV was too rugged to break down easily (notice yours still works). $50 would really be top dollar. you might get more on Craigs list from a videographer that is looking for an audio record device or backup camera. As a digital camera, forget it, a $50 Kodak will out perform it in that respect. Quality means nothing, the hot item for old camcorders is Hi8 because they breakdown a lot. A working Hi8 camcorder can fetch over $100 on eBay from people that are desparate to have a playback device.
