How do you record from 8mm camcorder tape to DVD?

8mm tape converter device?

  • My grandparents have an older camcorder that uses 8mm tapes. Usually they use the camcorder to record it onto a VHS tape. However this is really time consuming and a bit complicated with so many 8mms to convert. Is there an easier way for me to ge them on a VHS (or even better a DVD)? I have heard of a VHS cartridge converter for 8mm but they seem to be pretty obsolete now. I would appreciate any suggestions! (preferably not too expensive)

  • Answer:

Unfortunately converting the film is expensive. Go to this online calculator from stashspace.com to determine how much it will cost to convert: http://stashspace.com/film-transfer/film-to-dvd-transfer.stm However, you should convert it because the film degrades over time. You can have StashSpace.com convert the film to digital and then host it online, or send it back to you on dvd, dataDVD or portable hard drive

well it's a 1-to-1 real time process but PLEXTOR has this digital box which coverts VIDEO and audio output to digital. You can import it to a movie maker and render a dvd. I've had one for 6 years now.

There is no 8mm to VHS converter. But there is a converter from VHS-C to VHS camcorders.
