How do I get movies on an SD card?

How do i make movies with a Panasonic camcorder PV-DV200 using a SD card with no Mini DV tape ?

  • My camcorder only takes still photos with a SD card installed and the MINI DV tapes are obsolete already ... very hard to find any information from Piss-A-Sonic ....lol... wheres the service after the sale? PV-DV200 mini DV PalmSight please give me lots of details not just a quick answer to get points I downloaded the manual for this camcorder but found no answer why its not making movies like it should do

    Your SD card is photos only. As for MiniDV tape being obsolete, you don't get out much do you? I can get them in Walmart or any photo store, in any country. They are far from obsolete. They produce better video than any HD camcorder costing under $3500. The reason being, unlike HD camcorders, every frame shot by a MiniDV tape camcorder is put directly on the tape. HD camcorders interpolate the frames. This means for every 50 frames of video, 10 come from the lens assembly and 40 to 45 frames are are manufactured by internal electronics in the camcorder that have nothing to do with the lens assembly. Action video shot with a HD camcorder is unwatchable. Step out and look for MiniDV tapes, they are still everywhere.

there is a computer Link connector on the PV DV200, use it to connect to a computer with ieee1384 port and you can record on the computer HDD. not very portable unless you use a laptop. or a firestore drive. i think using the tape is the best option. i have a question for you, the PV DV200 is a rather old camera (1999), did any other camera from that year record video on SD cards? before you piss on Panasonic, just remember it was your buying choice. Panasonic provides as much product support on 12 year old models as any camcorder maker in the world. miniDV is actually not obsolete except only in your own mind. all the major makers of professional camcorders still sell miniDV and HDV cameras. Canon tried to discontinue its consumer miniDV camera, the ZR960, 2 years ago, and dealers put up such a clamor that they have returned to making them.
