Answer:
Depends on the type of video cam you have. However, you should be able to find a solution with StashSpace.Com an online video transfer service. They have a great free video editor that allows you to add video directly from your camcorder via a firewire cable. You can also send them video tapes / DVD is the mail for them to add to your account. Check them out at http://www.stashspace.com or give them a call they have excellent service. Good Luck!

I just answered a similar question, so I hope you don't mind me copying & pasting my answer: Okay, this can be kind of complicated. When I first got my camcorder, it wouldn't even get recognized by my computer let alone transfer my video over. Depending on what kind of camcorder you have, it could vary. I ended up needing to get an IEEE 1394 video card, which involved opening the computer and physically putting that in. The camcorder didn't hook up with the cord that came with it, which was USB/that hole that digital cameras use, and I used a 6-pin/4-pin wire to connect the camcorder to my computer through the 6-pin port in the IEEE card. Your other option, if you can firewire, is to hook your camcorder up to your computer via 4-pin/4-pin. These are both for camcorders that use DV tapes, as that's all I've worked with. I'm not sure how digital camcorders work, can you post a little more detail about your camcorder? Anyway, getting it on your computer is the hard part. If you're planning on doing this a lot, I'd recommend getting Adobe Premiere 4.0 for all your video editing needs. Even though Adobe Premiere Elements is "newer", I used to use 4.0 and now have Elements and 4.0 is much better in my opinion. (Also, Elements refused to recognize my older camcorder, sigh.) If you're doing this once, download a free 30-day trial of one of those. The programs are easy enough to use, and you just record the video from the camcorder in the program and then burning a DVD is one of the options for 'sharing'. Hope this helps you even a little? You can always message me for specifics, if any of this sounds like what you need to do. I have a Sony DCR-HC21 camcorder, by the way. Best of luck!
