Should i get a pro camcorder or not?

What kind of Camcorder/pro/ should i get?

  • i wanna be a filmmaker but i dont know what kind of camcorder to buy. a professional camcorder is not out of the box but it cant be over $1,000. but i wanna make myself look professional or at least want them(actors, adults, etc.)to take me seriously when they see the camera and project information. i also want to be able to upload the videos onto youtube and get feedback. but i dont know how that works with a professional camcorder...like is there tape or a digital card that records..i dont understand it...also i want softwares to be able to manipulate what i filmed(but i think i know the answer to that) just wanna be sure thanks in advance

Sorry but they will take you seriously for about a minute, or until you start to make mistakes. its going to be very obvious that you are not used to a camera of that type. Dont try to run before you can walk, personally if I was you get yourself a good secondhand camera something like a canon XL1s or you maybe lucky and get a XL2 you will be able to get one in your budget. Its an older tape based camera but the quality is still very good, may professionals still have one in their collection of cameras. as some one who knows little about them, it will be very forgiving as it has a fully automatic mode then as you get better you can slowly reduce the things its will do for you and let you start to control the camera. Have a look here http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/buy/Pro-Prosumer-Camcorders/ci/15330/N/4294210518 editing software, if you use windows then you have windows movie maker, its not great but its simple and free, once you get the idea then you can move onto better stuff. Size does not mean that much, the main thing people look at is the cameraman's confidence, and how th equipment is handled. if you can show that you are half way there, any hesitation and you have lost it. Good luck RR
