How do I get a video from windows movie maker off the computer?

How do you import a video into Windows Movie Maker?

  • I have a Cannon Power Shot digital camera and I recorded a video with it. I uploaded the video onto my computer and it came up under Windows Live Photo Gallery. I want to edit the video with Windows Movie Maker but if I try to drag it over or copy and paste it, it says, "C:\Users\Owner\Videos\MVI_0567.MOV could not be imported." I saved the video under my Video folder but when I go under it in Windows Movie Maker, the folder isn't there anymore. I have Windows Vista, if that even matters but I need help on how to get my video into Windows Movie Maker. Please help! I need to finish my project that's due this Friday!

    MOVIE MAKER does not support all file types, not hd, mpeg4, mts, mod, mov or h.264 files. If your camera shoots in those formats you will have to convert to use WMM. Your camera recorded video is mov video, but windows movie maker supports wmv video. You have to convert the mov video to wmv video at first. Windows movie maker doesn't compatible with .MOV extension. It has to be WMV. If you have Windows Live Movie Maker, then I think only .AVI and .WMV works. .MOV extension only works on quicktime media. You should download a video converter to change .MOV to .WMV
