Why can't i import my videos onto Windows Movie Maker?

it just says this: The file C:\Users\lisugh\Pictures\CIMG0036.MOV cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again. how do i put the videos on there? why wont it let me?

Answer:
Windows movie maker supports only .asf, .avi, .m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .mpv2, .wm, and .wmv files.
