How to fix the ultra flip camcorder?

Any ideas on how to fix this camcorder problem?

  • Recently, my dad had me install windows 7 on the families laptop (I am the only one who actually uses it). Today was the first time I have decided to import a video file from my camcorder (canon ZR830) to the computer. I have the right cord and know how to import since this wasn't my first time importing. However, everytime i plug in my camcorder, it defaults to quickplay (which comes preinstalled on the hp laptop). I have uninstalled and reinstalled my camera (like the special driver that it is). I even have uninstalled and reinstalled windows movie maker but still no luck. My dads computer (which i am not allowed to use) installs the camcorder drive correctly (it registers as a dv device). The laptop and my dad's computer are the only computers we own with a DV port. No, I cannot use the usb port to import from the video tape, only from the memory card.Also, the camera doesn't appear under the computer tab when it is plugged in. Any ideas on the issue?

    quick play is default, simply close it. open Windows Movie Maker manually and you should be able to import as usual.
