Which Camcorder to buy?

Doubt about which camcorder to buy?

  • I am planning to buy my first camcorder with a max budget of around 300-350 pounds. I am a bit confused, having done quite a bit of checking on the net. I am planning on buying a hard disk camcorder. Can someone answer my following doubts: 1)Are there any drawbacks of a HD camcorder? 2)Are the softwares that come along with the camcorder easy to work with? 3)Which HD camcorder would you recommend? Sony, JVC or Canon? I am inclined to buy Sony SR32, is that a good product as compared to similar products from JVC? Thanks a big deal to anyone who helps me with my doubts.

350 pounds??? I'm guessing that's around 700$..... I also bought a new HD camcorder, but I didn't go for a hard-disk based one. I bought a Panasonic, and it records to SD cards. The quality is THE BEST, and it's REALLY REALLY light. (hard disks are really heavy) I'm not sure if they sell it in GB but I would recommend the HDC-SD series camcorders. You won't regret it. Oh yeah, you will need a relatively powerful computer to playback the raw HD video on a computer but using the easy-to-use software you can convert it to DVD-video. If you have a blu-ray player, you can burn the HD content directly into a DVD and play it in full 1080i quality. I'm not sure about the price, but it'll be worth the extra money. And as far as i'm concerned, there are no drawbacks in using this camcorder.
