Why does Digital Video look so terrible?

Why does my HD video not look HD? and why does it look like theres a grayish film on the video.?

  • Here are some videos that i shot with my canon 7D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ZqjQTlfjxg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TzFjk_DB77U I wanted to know why doesn't my video look something similar to the quality of this HD video http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=dDDyoRJsFCU I feel like his 480p video looks better than my 720p. why is the quality so different? do they edit it differently? i edit on final cut pro and don't wanna mess with color tones. I even exported it with the highest quality HD format. please someone help! thanks in advance.

    Wow nice slo mo man! You using Twixtor? And the Fisheye seems not so bad. Is that software emulation or a real lens? Anyway it is about the lighting. Your lighting conditions were pretty bad. And also check your lens and Exposure levels. Seems to me like it is nowhere near crystal clear. And also remember, almost every great looking video you see are polished A LOT with softwares. Curves are applied and color correction is done. Seems like yours is RAW. Try using Sony Vegas/After effects or Premiere for color correction and contrast etc. It should look great that way. Up until now, it seems like the lens and exposure level is the culprit to me.

I see in the 3rd video you link to, that operator of the camcorder knows how to set the exposure levels in the camcorder for good video shooting. In the videos you shot, the exposure was set very low. Get the manual that came with your camcorder and see how to adjust your exposure. Once you learn that trick, you will be shooting much better videos.
