• I am looking to buy a camcorder for skateboarding, right now i am using a $100 Flip camcorder and it isnt cutting it. I am looking to buy a nice MiniDV camcorder that has good features and can easily have a handle mounted to it and cheap fisheyes that will fit. I have about $300 to work with. I will not destroy the camera on the first outing because i know how to film good and edit nicely, i just lack the quality cam. Ive been looking at the Optura 20's and i also thought i could wait a lil while and save up around $700 and buy a gl1.

  i totally agree. i have been using the flip and it's not doing the job i need. for $300 you could buy a decent camera like you said, but i think the key is effects and add ons. using a decent fish eye would give you a good look for a standard looking skate vid. another big thing would be editing. if you edit your skate videos on the computer like everyone else, you need to make sure it's easy to hook up and to transfer all of your footage onto the computer. as far as specific examples for a good "skate cam" im not sure...but i think that if you follow some of the guidelines i listed above, you should be in pretty good shape.
