How do I connect my camcorder to my laptop?

I am having JVC camcorder model no. GRSXM 470A.I want to connect it with the hp laptop.How can I do this?

  • The camcorder is having following ports: 1. S VIDEO out 2. A/V out 3. JLIP/EDIT (joint level interface protocol) It was written in the manual that the camera will be connected to computer through this port only by a JLIP cable provided with it.But there is no such type of port in the laptop to connect it.There are only 3 USB ports and S VIDEO out along with one expansion port(it only supports the additional USB ports and composite out, VGA out,SPDIF out).In the manual it is stated that there are JLIP no. from 0-99 which will be set first according to the device to which camcorder is connected but the proper information is not given regarding the full procedure.Please let me know how is it possible to connect it to the laptop.If there is any converter cable which can fit into the Usb port of the laptop,I am ready to purchase it. There is no such cable provided with the camcorder which can fit to the laptop.Only JLIP cable is there which can be connected to remote also.BY:ANSHUL

    The only way to really get your video on your laptop is to use a firewire card. They make them for laptops, just make sure that the one you buy is not proprietary (some dell laptops only take a particular kind). USB is good for transferring photos, but not video.
