How can I record through my webcam secretly?

How can I record the video that's being broadcast by my son's webcam without him knowing?

  • I have two teenage sons, they have some friends that live out of state and often like to video chat with them. We have only one webcam in our house, so they take turns using it. I'm worried about what they might be doing on the cam when we're not around. How can I record the video being broadcast by the webcam without them knowing. I don't know when they plug the cam in, so I can't use a timed recorder. What I need is something that will record the video being broadcast when the cam is plugged in. Can anyone help? I want to make sure my kids aren't doing anything they shouldn't.

There are programs you can get that allow you to take a snapshot of whats on your computer screen every few seconds & run silently/hidden but I cannot remember the name of the software. It should be pretty easy to find programs like this though. I say if it your computer under your roof then do whatever you want with it!!!!

I'm sorry, but this to me is a form of invasion of privacy. I totally understand that you don't want your son to do anything bad or wrong to ruin his future. This is where parenting comes in. Try to understand what their going through in life and talk to them about everything. Open up to them but not to aggressively that they are turned off by it, but rather, make it comfortable and open a connection between you and your children. When I was a child(not too long ago), my parents tried to watch over me, and constantly kept watch on me. I learned to despise them for that and never was able to trust them again while living under the same house. As an adult I understand what they did was for my best interests, but at the time I took it the wrong way. And because of that, I felt like I needed to do the things they didn't want me to do. I did some, most I regret doing.

questionman is very right. Helping your kids do the right thing is great, but don't invade their privacy. It's just not right.
