Sony NP-F550 camcorder question!?

• I have a Sony NP-F550 camcorder..which is pretty old. It does not come with anything to hook it up to the computer with and I would like to convert the tape ( a wedding video) to a DVD so my family can have copies. I have no clue where to start since I can't find any way to get the camcorder hooked up to the computer!! The only thing the camcorder has is a tv hook up. The tape is a fujifilm Hi8 MP, p6-120. I am just wondering if anyone has any idea what I could do?? Also, what kind of company would I go to to get it done by? (if i cant do it myself) I am pretty good with computers so anything that sounds complicated I might be able to figure out. Thanks so much!!~

  The Sony NP-F550 is not a camcorder. It is the model number of the battery. Hi8 is analog. Sony made a few models,CCD-TRV138, CCD-TRV98, CCD-TRV318... afew others. To get the video from the analog Hi8 camcorder to a computer, you will need the AV cable that came with the camcorder (or appropriate replacement) and an "analog/digital converter". The AV cable plugs into the camcorder and the A/D converter, the A/D converter pugs into the computer. Since you did not tell us anything about the computer, we can provide only general help. If your computer had USB connections only then the low-end USB A/D converters like those from Roxio, elgato, Hauppage, Pinnacle (Dazzle) and many others will do what you need. If your computer has a firewire port, then the ADVC55 or ADVC110 A/D converter will provide high quality, standard definition format DV file import.
