How to watch movies in camcorder?

Copying Commercially Made Video Tapes With A Camcorder?

  • I want to convert some of those old movies I purchased from VHS to DVD. Lets say I purchase a camcorder. Could'nt I just put the VHS tape into the VCR, turn on the CAMCORDER, set the cam down in front of the TV and leave it to record the movie. Then when I am finsided, it would be a DVD I could watch in my DVD Player (I assume) I'm thinking this could be a way to get by the Macrovision anti-copy encoding. I am not a bootlegger, I have no plans to resell them. They are movies I want to preserve for myself. After all I payed for them!

  • Answer:

You need to buy a video / dvd recorder, you can then put your vhs tape on play & place a blank dvd disc in the drive & set the machine to record from vhs straight to dvd I have a Bush which i bought new at just over £300 but that was a while ago so they might be cheaper now. Im sure Argos have them, if not then Currys etc. Hope this answer is ok for you by the way Im not sure about the copywrite protection as ive not recorded a shop bought video. Regards Adrian.

Um, yes that would work, but the quality of the video and audio would be extremely poor. Your camera will record the video off the television screen and the microphone will pick up all kinds of ambient noises, too. It's difficult to find yourself with a large collection of obsolete technology VHS tapes, but the quality of DVD digital video and audio is so far superior that I would rather spend the camera money on buying DVD's or investing in a NETFLIX membership.
