Why wont my JVC camcorder charge?

Help! I have a JVC camcorder and it will not hold a charge at all. What should I do?

  • I have a JVC analog camcorder that will only work if I plug it in. I think it's the battery but I wanted to check before I spend more money on one. Does anyone know what I should do or what could be wrong? Thanks!

    Most likely it is the battery. Depending on how old the battery is as well as the usage of it would give an indication of the suspicion of the battery. You might try to see if there is a Batteries Plus in your area. They carry all sorts of batteries and they might also have a way to check your battery. http://www.batteriesplus.com/

Almost certainly the battery, which is going to be about 40 bucks at Radioshack. Possible that it could be the charger or contacts between the charger and the battery. If it died all at once it is the charger or the contacts are dirty (clean all the metal parts on the battery and the charger with rubbing alcohol). If it died gradually over time take the camcorder and the battery to Radioshack along with $40 and they will have you good as new in five minutes. You cannot check rechargable batteries.

It's either the battery or the charger. Probably the battery, however without an extra of either, you're screwed telling which. Buy a battery someplace local. Radio Shack is fine, but I no longer give Radio Shack employees that much electronic diagnosis acumen. If it works - it was the battery. Keep it. If it doesn't - it's something else. Take the battery back for a refund.

Check if the charger is on good working condition , if its ok . you have to change the battery. Check on ebay you gonna find very good deals.
