I wanna use my digital video camera as a webcam!?

i'm not sure how to set it up. when i plug the camera in, and on the preferences/settings of the camera, i can click a button on the screen to make it take a picture. is there a way i can use this as a cam? i need to know asap. PLEASE HELP!?
