I hope you're in the UK, because here's another link - http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?KW-VSUSB I've heard good things about the Dazzle converter and the K World device, but I'd avoid cheap TV cards - the quality tends to be very poor. If you've got a lot of tapes and you want the best quality possible, have a look at the Canopus ADVC range. Not cheap, but well respected.

You need a PCI Video/TV card with video capture facility - Look on Ebay for Leadtek - VC100 XP or higher The card accepts the old style phono tpe plug and S-Video input - the software is easy to use - cost about £10

I use the dazzle analog converter, it also came with some good editing software. my old video camera doesn't work anymore , so I hooked a VCR up to the dazzle. Unfortunately when converting analog to digital you do lose some quality. I have lots of old home movies I've been converting. I say you lose some quality, but it could be the degrading of the old VHS tapes. They don't last forever and mine are 15 years old.
