What do I need to build a portfolio for a media copywriting internship?

I want to set up some videos on you tube as my portfolio. What equip and software do I need. They will be Documentaries about local landmarks, interviews with local people, and skits. I will need close up capability. Zoom, like where you can focus on someone in the background and then put them out of focus as you zoom in on your subject. the ability to create solid looking custom credits drean sequences and will need music editing that is compatable I was thinking of a Mac G5 but is it capable.

Don't even think about a G5. You'll be stuck with older versions of software as nothing new will run on it. Mac OS 10.5.8 is the last version of the Mac OS that will run on it. It's pretty slow by modern standards. Get something newer.
